      Background

      The refresh rate of a screen is how many times it updates itself in one second. This is different from frames per second (fps), which tells us how many pictures are shown by the video source every second. A higher refresh rate usually means smoother motion on the screen, but not always. If you want to avoid eye strain, it's good to have a refresh rate of at least 120 times per second. If the refresh rate is too low, you might notice a flickering or redrawing of the image, which can be unpleasant to look at and cause eye strain and headaches.
